In the Boys Class 1 state track meet in Jefferson City, Hermitage and Hayti tied for first place with 42 points, King City was fourth with 32, Princeton was in a two-way tie (with Nodaway Valley) for fifth with 28 points, and the Newtown-Harris/Grundy R-5 co-op tied with Green City for seventh place with 26 points.
Checking top three finishers from this area, Zack Cross of Newtown-Harris won the 300 meter hurdles, with Asher Buggs-Tipton of Green City second. Buggs-Tipton won the 110 hurdles race, with Cross in third place.
Talan Holt of Princeton was the champion and Kemper Cline of Albany was third place in the high jump. Ty Mooney of King City was first and Derek Curtis of Tri-County runner-up in the 200 meters.
Other top three finishers from the listening area included Brody Langfitt of Gilman City, champion in the javelin; Tyson Gibson of North Harrison winning the triple jump; Maverick Gentry of Polo first in the discus; and Tucker Singer of Tina-Avalon winning the shot put, with Glen Holt of Southwest Livingston third in that competition. The Braymer Bobcats took the 4 by 400 meter relay championship, with King City second and Braymer third in the 4 by 200 race.
Albany was second and King City third in the 4 by 100 relay. Ty Mooney of King City was second in the 100 meter dash. Andrew Rhoades of Princeton was third in the pole vault, with Asher Buggs-Tipton of Green City third in the long jump.
In the girls Class 1 state meet, East Atchison won the team title with 70 points, Drexel second with 60, Platte Valley third with 39, Worth County seventh with 28 1/2, and Pattonsburg tenth with 22 points.
Worth County won the 4 by 100 meter relay, with Eva Engel of Worth County first place in the pole vault. Kelsey Crabtree of Pattonsburg was second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. Hanna Vaught of Polo was second in the shot put, with AnnaBelle Gardener of Pattonsburg third in the high jump.
In the girls Class 2 state meet, North Platte won the team title with 86 points, just ahead of runner-up Tolton Catholic with 83. South Harrison was third place with 36 points, and Maysville tied for fourth place with 29.
Top three finishers locally included Bella Redman of Maysville in first place in the 300 hurdles and long jump, with Abbey Henry of South Harrison second in the long jump.
South Harrison took the championship in the 4 by 100 meter relay. Lillian Wilson of South Harrison was second in the 100 meter dash. Savannah Reinke of Carrollton was second in the javelin throw.
In the boys Class 2 state meet, Summit Christian Academy and Charleston tied for first place with 47 points. Top three finishers locally included Milan’s Jeremy Bennett winning the long jump and finishing second in the triple jump. Jake Rouse of Putnam County was third in the pole vault.
