(TSX / STATS) INGLEWOOD, California — Super Bowl LV is relocating from L.A.

Los Angeles was awarded the 2021 Super Bowl — Super Bowl LV — but with construction delayed by record rainfall and the Rams and Chargers unable to become full-time tenants of the new venue until 2020, NFL owners voted unanimously Tuesday to delay the site as Super Bowl host for an additional season. Instead, Tampa, Fla., was named site of the 55th Super Bowl.

No. 56 goes to Los Angeles.

The $2.6 billion project in Inglewood, Calif., will be headquarters for Super Bowl LVI at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

League rules prohibit stadiums from hosting a Super Bowl in its first season of operation.

The next Super Bowl in February 2018 will be played in Minneapolis, followed by Atlanta and Miami returning as host cities.

“The Tampa Bay area has enjoyed great success over the years hosting Super Bowls and we look forward to working with our local leaders in the coming months to meet the requirements for hosting Super Bowl LV in 2021,” Buccaneers co-chairman Bryan Glazer said in a statement released by the team. “Today’s announcement offers us the opportunity to showcase Tampa Bay’s unique ability to come together as a host for world-class events.”
