A second-half goal by Colorado’s Diego Rubio provided the winning margin on Saturday night, with the Rapids taking a 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City in MLS Western Conference action at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
William Yarbrough had Kansas City send 18 shots his way, saving the two shots that hit the target. Kansas City had an 18-8 advantage in shots attempted. Tim Melia saved one of the two shots on goal for SKC.
In the 68th minute of regulation, a pass from Colorado’s Darren Yapi found the foot of Rubio in finding the back of the net.
Sporting KC (0-4-3) is going through its longest winless streak to start a season since 1999. Colorado improves to 1-3-3. On Saturday, April 15th, Colorado plays at Charlotte FC, with Sporting Kansas City at the San Jose Earthquakes.
