The San Jose Earthquakes shut out stumbling Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night, with Jeremy Ebobisse scoring a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory in northern California.
San Jose improved to 4-2-2 with the win, while dropping Kansas City to 0-5-3. The victory was just the second in the last 15 attempts for the ‘Quakes over KC, with San Jose now 4-0-1 in its last five matches at home.
The first goal of the game was tallied by Cristian Espinoza, hitting the best of the net in the 9th minute. Ebobisse’s first goal, a penalty kick effort, came later in the opening half.
San Jose will play at Real Salt Lake on Saturday, with Sporting aiming to end its winless start, traveling to Foxboro, Massachusetts to play the New England Revolution.
