Sporting KC to return to action with games against Minnesota, Salt Lake, and Colorado

Major League Soccer has announced the schedule for the MLS is Back Tournament, including the three matches for Sporting Kansas City at the World Wide of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Sporting is placed into Group D of the tournament, with the first match for the club against Minnesota United FC at 7 PM on Sunday, July 12th on ESPN.  The second match will be at 7 PM on Friday, July 17th against the Colorado Rapids, with a morning game against Real Salt Lake slated for Wednesday, July 22nd at 8 o’clock, with the Colorado match and Salt Lake duel also to be televised on ESPN.

All 54 matches of the MLS is Back Tournament will be aired across ESPN, Fox Sports, and the Univision family of networks.  Group play in the event will run from July 8th to August 11th, with 26 teams divided into six groups.  Groups A, C, and E will featured the 14 Eastern Conference clubs, with Groups B, D, and F matching up 12 Western Conference sides.

The sixteen teams advancing into knockout stage competition will be the teams finishing in the top half of Group A through F, in addition to the top three-teams among the fourth-place finisher in Group A, and the third-place finishers in Groups B through F.

The first match of stage play will be July 8th, with Orlando City SC meeting in-state rival Inter Miami CF.  The Round of 16 runs from July 25th through the 28th, followed by the Quarterfinals from July 30th to August 1st, Semifinals August 5th and 6th, and the Championship on August 11th.
