Sporting KC faces mid-week road test at Los Angeles

Sporting Kansas City will travel to Southern California on Wednesday night to battle the Los Angeles Galaxy in a Western Conference Major League Soccer duel.

Coming into the contest, starting at 9:30 PM CDT (7:30 PM PDT), Sporting’s record has surged to 5-7-4 against Western Conference foes, while sitting at 2-5 in one-goal matches, with the Galaxy scuffling to a mark of 3-5-4 in conference play and 2-3 in one-goal decisions.  Overall, both teams have work to do to rally into postseason position, with Sporting Kansas City sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference and the LA Galaxy in 14th place.  The previous meeting between the two teams ended in a 0-0 draw.

Dejan Joveljic and Tyler Boyd have been the key performers for the LA Galaxy, with Joveljic scoring two goals and providing one assist, while Boyd has scored two goals in the last 10 games.  Alan Pulido and Daniel Salloi have been the top performers for Sporting KC. Pulido has scored five goals and provided one assist, while Salloi has scored three goals and provided two assists in the last 10 games.

In their last 10 games, the LA Galaxy have struggled, winning only three, with an average of 1.1 goals scored per game and 1.8 goals conceded per game.  Sporting KC has performed better in their last 10 games, winning five, with an average of 1.8 goals scored per game and 1.4 goals conceded per game.

Both teams have several players who are expected to miss the game due to injuries, with Sporting expected to be without William Agada, Kortne Ford, Tim Melia, Graham Zusi, Kayden Pierre, Marinos Tzionis, Logan Ndenbe, Dany Rosero, Andreu Fontas, and Johnny Russell.
