South Harrison’s Owens finishes second in Class 1 as golf season ends

The golf season for area squads wrapped up on Monday and Tuesday, October 17th and 18th, with state tournaments held across Missouri.  In the Class 1 event in Columbia, East Atchison won the team title with a score of 826, easily besting the runner-up score of Clever High School (909).  Maysville High School finished fourth at 935 and Gallatin tied New Bloomfield in sixth place, both at 966.

Kelsea Kirwan of East Atchison had a two-day score of 189 to win the individual title, with Abby Owens taking second place hardware back to South Harrison High School in Bethany, with a total of 194.  Maysville’s Hannah Riner was fourth place (199), with Putnam County’s Abbie Koenen finishing in sixth place (205).  Gallatin’s Elle Copple was eighth (207).

In Class 2, Osage won the state title with a score of 726, followed by Westminster Christian (743) and Boonville (752).  Marlene Edgeman of Marshfield won the individual title at 144.  Kirksville’s Addison Davis was seventh at 170.  

Chillicothe had two golfers in the state field, with Skyler Powers shooting a 28th place score of 194, while Izzy Montgomery shot 197 for 36th place.

The Class 3 state title went to Glendale High School at 687.  Audrey Rischer of Tolton Catholic, at 154, won the individual title.  In Class 4, St. Joseph’s Academy won state at 640, with Maya McVey of Blue Springs South taking the individual crown with a two-day score of 146.
