The South Harrison Lady Bulldogs, with a team score of 365, claimed the Grand River Conference girls golf championship in Monday afternoon competition at the Green Hills Course in Chillicothe. South Harrison’s Abby Owens, with a 3-over par score of 75 on the 18 hole course, dominated the individual chase, winning the title by 18 strokes over runner-up Maggie Bennett of Brookfield.
Brookfield’s team score of 410 was second place to South Harrison, followed by Trenton’s third-place team tally of 427.
South Harrison had four players finish in the Top 10 individually, with Ainsley Klindt at 96 (fifth place) and Ashlee Cannon’s score of 97 matching Chloe Hodge, with the South Harrison duo tied for sixth place.
Kierstyn Sutch of Brookfield shot 94, good for third place, with Trenton’s top score of 95 from Reece Weldon locking down the fourth position for the Lady Bulldog senior. Trenton’s Kinsley Otto, with a round of 104, earned all-GRC status with a ninth-place finish, followed by Putnam County’s Tayla Turner at tenth-place 106. Marceline’s top score was an eighth-place 103 from Ella Sportsman.
