The South Harrison Bulldogs scored four touchdowns to Trenton’s two, including both scores in a 12-0 first half shutout, in a 26-12 middle school football victory on Monday night at C.F. Russell Stadium in Trenton.
Trenton’s normally potent rushing attack was slowed by South Harrison’s front seven, with Coleman Griffin held to 26 yards and a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, while Sam Gibson had 18 yards and Jarek Habelitz 20 for TMS. Dylan Spencer reeled in a 44 yard touchdown pass from Griffin in the third quarter, at the time cutting South Harrison’s advantage to 12-8.
The “Bethany boys” had balanced scoring pave the way for the victory, scoring one each in the first, second, third, and fourth quarters. The first half scores came by an 18 yard run (missed PAT) and 20 yard pass (made two-point PAT). The third quarter score, making the lead 20-8, came via a 57 yard run, while the put-away score, obtained in the fourth quarter with the lead sitting at 20-14, was a 32 yard scoring pass, with the two-point conversion falling short.
