Small school state track opens Friday at Jefferson City High School

Class 1 and 2 track athletes from across the state of Missouri converged on Jefferson City on Friday morning, for the start of the 90th boys and 42nd girls state meet.  This year, the event has moved “across the street” from Dwight T. Reed Stadium at Lincoln University,l to Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School.

Admission for students (6 and up) and adults will be $7.00 per day.  Re-entry will be permitted with the proper wristband.  Shuttle service will be provided by Jefferson City at various satellite parking areas.

Some field finals and various track events, including preliminaries, will be held on Friday.  The majority of finals, and the remaining half of the field events, will be contested on Saturday.

While Class 1 and 2 wrap up track season this weekend, Classes 3, 4, and 5 will head to Jefferson City next weekend (May 29th and 30th).  Trenton and Chillicothe will be among schools headed for Richmond on Saturday (May 21st) for Class 3, Section 4 competition at Richmond High School, starting at 10 AM.  Top four finishers from sectionals will advance to the Class 3 state event next weekend.
