Two teams with identical 8-7 records met at East Buchanan High School on Tuesday night, with the Lady Bulldogs, coming off a tough three-set loss to unbeaten Bishop LeBlond on Monday night, welcoming the much-improved Trenton Lady Bulldogs to Gower.
East Buchanan, perhaps bolstered by their strong play against LeBlond, blitzed the Lady Bulldogs early, racing out to a 25-8 victory in the first set. Trenton, in the second set, was able to steady their nerves and play more consistently, but THS lost the set 25-20, falling in two sets, and seeing their season record fall back to .500 (8-8).
Samantha White and Addisyn Ishmael led the East Buchanan offense with seven kills each, with Addison McCreary contributing 22 assists in a solid floor game. Â Trenton individual stats are not yet available.
The Trenton junior varsity took East Buchanan to a third set, but lost in Gower as well.
Trenton will continue its road trip on Thursday night, at South Harrison High School to take on the fledgling Lady Bulldog volleyball program. Â First serve from Bethany is slated for 5 o’clock.
On Monday, the Lady Bulldogs host the Chillicothe Lady Hornets, in freshman, JV, and varsity competition. Â The varsity match, scheduled to be played at approximately 6:45, will be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and KTTNSports.com.
The Penney Lady Hornets took a 2 set victory at Brookfield in volleyball action on Tuesday night, while Chillicothe lost a close two-set duel against the visiting Kirksville Tigers, 26-24, 25-23.
