The Savannah Savages upended the Trenton Bulldogs in high school volleyball action on Tuesday evening at Trenton High School, winning the varsity match between the squads 25-9, 25-17.
Trenton ends the regular season with a mark of 10-15-1, with district competition beginning on Monday, October 28th at Lathrop High School.
In the loss to the Savages, Trenton was led by five assists from Ava Simpson, a pair of kills from Libby Fewins, two kills and two blocks for Evy McCullough, and two digs each from Jessa Shipley and Natalie Ricker. Savannah had 21 kills from Rylee Finight and six kills from Lexi Jones in improving to 19-10-3.
Savannah won the JV match 25-10, 25-18, and the C squad match 25-9, 25-17.
Chillicothe, on Tuesday night, fell on the road to the Benton Cardinals, 25-23, 7-25, 21-25. Gracie West, Lucy Gaston, and Maya Snyder all had four kills for the Hornets, falling to 7-16-1 on the season.
Trenton’s opening round opponent in Class 2, District 16 will be the Penney High School Hornets of Hamilton. The 5 o’clock contest, on Monday night from Lathrop, will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7. The winner of Monday night’s duel between the 4th seeded Lady Bulldogs and the 5th seeded Lady Hornets will advance to play top-seeded Mid-Buchanan on Wednesday, October 30th at 5 o’clock back at Lathrop High School.
