Salvy hits two bombs, Royals win at Wrigley, 6-2

All-Star catcher Salvador Perez had another multi-homer game, bringing his season home run total to 32, as the Kansas City Royals utilized warm weather and friendly breezes at Wrigley Field to smash five home runs in a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon.

Emmanuel Rivera, Andrew Benintendi, and Cam Gallagher also hit homers for the usually light-on-power Royals, last in the American Legaue with just 124 long balls.

Brad Keller put together another strong start with six innings of four-hit, eight-strikeout baseball, improving to 8-12on the season.  Richard Lovelady, Jake Brentz, and Scott Barlow each worked an inning to finish up the game for Kansas City.

Chicago’s Patrick Wisdom gave the Cubs a brief 1-0 lead in the third inning, hammering a ball onto Waveland Avenue, his National League rookie-leading 19th homer of the season.  Chicago starter Zach Davies took the loss to fall to 6-10, allowing four of the Royals five long balls.
