Sporting Kansas City, playing without manager Peter Vermes (COVID-19 protocols) on Wednesday night, picked up a stoppage-time goal from Daniel Salloi, giving KC a 1-1 draw with visiting San Jose.

The Earthquakes opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, with Nathan Cardoso pushing the score to 1-0.  Salloi’s game-equalizer came on a rebound, with the opportunity set up by Johnny Russell’s free kick, banged off of the crossbar at Children’s Mercy Park.

The draw keeps San Jose winless over the past 10 games, Kansas City, having not lost on home soil since October 2020, pushes its mark to 8-3-3.

In a mid-season Major League Soccer Western Conference showdown, Sporting travels to Seattle to battle the Sounders this Sunday night, July 25th, at 8 o’clock.
