Former Kansas City Royals world champion outfielder Lorenzo Cain will be honored on an on-field ceremony on Saturday, May 6th, prior to Kansas City’s home game against the Oakland Athletics at Kauffman Stadium.
Cain announced his retirement prior to the 2023 season, ending a 13 season run in Major League Baseball, including a run in Kansas City that started in 2010 and ended in 2017, including the 2014 American League pennant-winning season and the 2015 World Championship season.
On May 6th, Cain will be signing a 1-day contract to officially retire as a member of the Royals franchise. He finishes a distinguished career with 1,171 games played, 626 runs scored, 1,220 hits, 225 doubles, 24 triples, 87 homers, 454 RBI’s, and 190 stolen bases.
