The Kansas City Royals have acquired minor league infielder Deivis Nadal from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for outfielder Edward Olivares. Nadal, 21, played for Low-A Bradenton last year, hitting .212 with 8 home runs, 39 RBIs, and 33 stolen bases. He was signed by the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent in July 2018.

In another move, the Royals have signed right-handed pitcher Chris Stratton to a one-year Major League contract, with a player option for 2025. Stratton, 33, had a 3.92 ERA in 2023 with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. His 82.2 relief innings ranked 4th in the Majors in 2023. Stratton has previously played for the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
