The Kansas City Royals added left-hander Noah Cameron, right-handers Luinder Avila and Eric Cerantola to their 40-man roster Tuesday, shielding them from the Rule 5 Draft.

  • Likely to compete for a pitching staff spot in Spring Training

Luinder Avila

  • Ranked No. 26 prospect
  • 23-year-old right-hander
  • 3.07 ERA in Arizona Fall League
  • Spent majority of 2024 in Double-A

Eric Cerantola

  • Ranked No. 29 prospect
  • 24-year-old right-hander
  • 2.97 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A
  • Seen as a multi-inning reliever

Rule 5 Draft Eligibility

Players signed at 18 or younger five seasons ago or 19 or older four seasons ago are eligible.

Other Considerations

Righties Chandler Champlain (No. 16) and lefty Tyson Guerrero (No. 27) were also considered.

Rule 5 Draft Process

  • Teams pay $100,000 to select a player
  • Selected player must be on 26-man roster or be offered back to original team for $50,000
