The Kansas City Royals have placed veteran first baseman Lucas Duda on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar strain, recalling infielder Kelvin Gutierrez from Class AAA Omaha. Duda will be eligible to be reinstated on Saturday, May 4th.
The 24-year old Gutierrez was hitting .333 for the Storm Chasers this season, with 2 homers and 10 RBI’s in 18 games. He was acquired by Kansas City in the June 18, 2018 trade that sent relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera to the Washington Nationals.
