The Kansas City Royals hope to take the momentum from back-to-back wins against the Chicago White Sox into Oakland, California, with a three-game series against the Athletics beginning tonight (Monday night) at 9:07.

Rookie right-hander Jake Junis has returned to the Royals, arriving in the clubhouse on Sunday morning in Chicago.  Manager Ned Yost has confirmed that Junis will start the opener in Oakland, although the Royals are waiting until Monday to make an official roster move.

Junis has been generally solid for the Royals this season, making seven starts and amassing a 4.70 ERA over ten total appearances while spending a good deal of the summer on the “I-29 express” between AAA Omaha and the big club at Kauffman Stadium.  The Royals needed a Monday night starter after placing veteran right-hander Trevor Cahill on the 10-day disabled list with rotator cuff weakness.
