The Kansas City Royals announced that first baseman Eric Hosmer has been named Royals Majestic Player of the Month for April, while right-handed pitcher Wade Davis is the club’s Pitcher of the Month. The player award is determined by a combined fan and media vote, with the pitcher award voted on by local media.
Hosmer led the club in hits (29), batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.368) in April and had a career-high 18-game hitting streak from April 10-29. This is his eighth career Royals Player of the Month honor and first since May of 2015.
Davis went 1-0 with seven saves in 8.2 scoreless innings last month, holding opponents to a .077 batting average (2-for-26). This is his sixth career Royals Pitcher of the Month honor after winning in April and July last season.
Fans have the opportunity to vote for the Royals Majestic Player of the Month all season long by visiting area Kansas Sampler and Rally House locations or the Royals Majestic Team Store at Kauffman Stadium.
