The injury bug continues to hit the Kansas City Royals bullpen heavy and hard.  The latest to go down, joining Greg Holland and Luke Hochevar on the disabled list, is All-Star closer Wade Davis.  Davis complained of elbow discomfort in recent outings and was sent home to Kansas City over the weekend, where he with diagnosed with a flexor strain.

Davis is on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 28th, making him eligible for reinstatement on August 12th.  The team has recalled left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm from Class AA Northwest Arkansas to take Davis’ spot on the roster.

The 24-year old Strahm has made 22 appearances, 18 of those starts, for the Naturals this season, posting a 3-8 record and 3.43 ERA, with 107 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings pitched.  Strahm was a 21st round selection by Kansas City in the 2012 draft.
