The anticipation is building for the 19th Annual High School Holiday Hoops Basketball Showcase presented by the NCMC Foundation. The schedule for the 2023 edition of Holiday Hoops, hosted at the Ketcham Community Center on the North Central Missouri College campus in Trenton, will soon be unveiled.
This year’s Holiday Hoops will feature a total of 78 teams, representing 45 Missouri high schools and Waukee Northwest in Iowa. The games will commence on Saturday, December 16th, and conclude on Friday, December 29th, making it a 9-day event. A highlight of this year’s showcase is the inclusion of first-time schools to the NCMC campus during the holiday break, such as Crest Ridge, Harrisonville, and Kipp KC Legacy.
The live streaming of all games at www.piratesdigitalmedia.com will allow those unable to attend in person to experience the excitement of Holiday Hoops. The event has historically been one of the state’s largest high school holiday basketball gatherings, with 48 varsity basketball games played on the NCMC campus in Trenton.
Volunteers collaborate with the 15-member committee to manage the event, which aims to expand exposure for North Central Missouri College, its campus, and facilities. The mission is to provide a quality, competitive basketball environment during winter break, allowing students and teams to showcase their skills. The NCMC Foundation and Holiday Hoops Committee hope to inspire student athletes to consider pursuing their educational and athletic goals beyond high school.
A commemorative program highlighting participating teams and area supporters will be available for purchase, along with t-shirts. Each participating student athlete receives a complimentary t-shirt. Raffle ticket proceeds will contribute to a scholarship for one Holiday Hoops participant to attend NCMC the following fall. Daily admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens (65 and older).
