Mizzou is expected to retain Robin Pingeton as the women’s basketball coach for her 15th season, according to multiple sources close to the program. Despite a challenging season where the Tigers finished with an 11-19 overall record and ended last in the SEC standings with a 2-15 conference record, Pingeton will reportedly continue leading the program.
Under Pingeton’s tenure, Mizzou reached the NCAA Tournament four consecutive times from 2015-2019 but has failed to return in the last five seasons. Pingeton ranks second in program history in winning percentage and victories.
Former athletic director Desireé Reed-Francois set goals for Pingeton to guide the team back to the NCAA Tournament, which didn’t happen. Reed-Francois’s departure added uncertainty to the program’s direction, but the university has decided to give Pingeton another year.
Pingeton will face the challenge of filling roster gaps left by departing starters like Hayley Frank and Mama Dembele, who transferred to South Florida. Incoming freshmen Londyn Oliphant and Ma’Riya Vincent are expected to contribute, joining the team from Texas as former AAU teammates.
Mizzou currently has at least five vacant scholarship spots for the 2024-25 season, providing Pingeton with an opportunity to reshape the roster.
