The North Central Missouri College softball team is on an early April roll, as recent surge of eight straight wins has pushed the Lady Pirates record to 21-9 (8-2 in Region 16), headed into a Friday afternoon test with Jefferson College (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM) at Mark Griffin Memorial Field in Trenton.
On Wednesday, North Central rallied from an early 4-0 hole, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and tacking on insurance from there, in an 8-6 win over Maple Woods.  Brookfield native Jaclyn Weydert had a home run, two runs scored and two RBI’s for the Lady Pirates.  Shortstop Rachael Balke added three hits and three RBI’s, including a double.  Madi Trump had a pair of doubles, run scored, and RBIs, while second baseman McKinley Hurley had a 2 for 4 game with a triple and an RBI.
Jessica Stupar worked around early difficulties to work six innings in the win for NCMC, giving up eight hits and six runs (three earned). Â Allison Hilsabeck picked up her second save, scattering one hit in a scoreless 7th inning.
While the Lady Pirates winning streak received a strong test in Game #1, Game #2 was a dominant performance by NCMC, as the Lady Pirates, never threatened, blasted the Monarchs 16-0 in five innings.  Madi Trump hit two home runs and had six RBI’s to lead the North Central offensive onslaught.  Kylee Nissen had a home run, while designated player Amber Austin had four RBI’s.  Hurley continued her hot hitting with two base hits in as many at-bats, with a run scored and two RBI’s.
Hilsabeck improved to 7-1 on the season, going five shutout innings, giving up only two hits and one walk, while striking out three.
After Friday’s doubleheader vs. Jefferson, NCMC remains home for a Sunday double-dip with St. Charles Community College (1:00 PM and 3:00 PM), aiming to continue its run up the Region 16 regular season standings.
