Las Vegas Raiders’ star receiver Davante Adams suffered a right leg injury during a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers. The injury occurred when Adams was hit by 49ers linebacker Oren Burks and cornerback Charvarius Ward while running a slant pattern during 11-on-11 team drills. Adams remained down for a moment before being helped to the sideline.
After the practice, Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels mentioned that he had yet to receive a full report on Adams’ condition, but he did not believe the injury was too serious. He described the play as a clean one and indicated that it was a “bang-bang” situation.
Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in recent seasons, had a standout performance last year with 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was acquired by the Raiders from the Green Bay Packers in a trade in 2022.
Teammates expressed concern for Adams and his well-being, with fellow Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers hoping for a swift recovery. Adams had been vocal about feeling more comfortable in the Raiders’ offensive system in his second year with the team.
The Raiders are set to face the 49ers in their exhibition opener at Allegiant Stadium before heading to Los Angeles for joint practices with the Rams and an exhibition game against them. The extent of Adams’ injury and his potential return timeline will likely be updated as more information becomes available.
