The Princeton Tigers, behind 15 points from Andrew Smith, 13 from Logan Dunkin, and 11 points from Calvin Berwanger, took a 58-44 win at Gallatin in Grand River Conference Eastern Division play on Tuesday  night.  The win improves Damon Collins’ Tiger team to 9-10 overall and 1-5 in the GRC, while Gallatin drops to 7-12 overall, and 2-4 in conference play.  Jett Simmons paced Gallatin with 10 points.  The win is the fourth in a row for the Tigers, coming off sweeping three games last week in winning the Gilman City Tournament.
The girls game from GHS saw the Lady Tigers offense struggle against Gallatin’s pressure defense, as GHS moved to 5-1 in conference play (15-5 overall) with a 50-29 home court victory. Â The Princeton girls, having dropped their last two games, fall to 10-10 overall and 3-3 in the GRC East.
The Grundy R-5 girls, behind Jandie Peterson’s 24 points and 11 from Matana Munday, beat Meadville 44-30. Â The Eagles were dominant in winning the boys game, 67-25.
Winston took a pair of wins over Osborn, with the Lady ‘Birds winning 38-27, while the Winston boys cruised to another lopsided win, 79-24.
The Hamilton girls beat Savannah 49-48, while the Hamilton boys, 48 hours removed from a Hamilton Tournament title game win over Trenton, beat Lathrop 70-58.
The Maryville boys, two days after losing at the buzzer to Lawson in the title game of the Cameron Tournament, rebounded with a 60-43 win at Plattsburg.
In the GRC West, Stanberry swept Braymer (54-25 girls and 47-44 boys), while North Andrew took a pair of games from St. Joseph Christian (41-20 girls and 73-60 boys).
The Northwestern boys won at Tina-Avalon 61-43, with the T-A girls winning the opener against the Lay Eagles 51-39. Â The Macon girls won at Kirksville 49-31, with the KHS Tigers beating Macon on the Kirksville floor, 48-21.
