The Princeton boys earned the consolation hardware, with the Lady Tigers winning third place, and earning a measure of payback against Worth County, in Friday night basketball games played in the Novinger Basketball Tournament.
On Tuesday, November 21st, a young and talented Worth County team traveled to Princeton and beat a Lady Tigers team hoping for a season opening victory. In the rematch, Princeton returned the favor, claiming a 39-34 victory, behind 13 points from both Jaelyn Thomas and Payton Goodin.
In the boys consolation final, Princeton’s boys played their finest game of the season, as Blaine Millburn scored 21 points and Andrew Smith 17, as the Tigers downed the King City Wildkats 57-45. The win evens the Tigers season record at 2-2, but on a more positive note, gives Coach Collins squad a two-game winning streak heading into the new week.
In the girls consolation final, Grace Schottel had 15 points, pacing the King City Lady Wildkats to a 43-34 win over the host Albany Lady Warriors.
The Albany Tournament will wrap up its 2017 edition with three games on Saturday night, as the Stanberry boys battle Pattonsburg in the third place game at 5:30, followed by Stanberry and Jefferson playing in the 7 o’clock final, with the Jefferson boys challenging top-seeded Worth County at 8:30.
