The Princeton Lady Tigers ripped the Pattonsburg Lady Panthers in the softball matchup between the #7 seeds in the Grand River Conference’s ‘crossover’ games on Thursday, 15-4. Â The Lady Tigers bats sizzled in the contest, scoring six runs in the 2nd inning, four in the fifth, and three more in the sixth inning. Â A scoreless bottom of the sixth ended the contest courtesy of the 10-run rule.
Here is this week’s Wednesday interview with Princeton Coach Heather Hall, aired at 3:30 PM on KTTN FM 92.3:
In total, the GRC East won six of the seven games between the divisions on Thursday night, highlighted by Trenton winning the GRC title over Stanberry, 3-0. Â The only victory for the West came from the King City Lady Wildkats, in an 11-5 final over Polo. Â Polo took a quick 4-0 lead in that game with a four-spot in the top of the 3rd inning, only to see King City’s offense surge with three runs in the 3rd, four in the 4th, and two each in the 5th and 6th inning. Â Brittany Walters effectively shutdown Polo’s offense after the early runs, giving up only a single tally late (7th inning).
Gallatin grabbed a 5-0 lead at North Andrew through 2 1/2 innings, and held on for a 6-3 road win in Rosendale. Â Sami Boyd earned the victory for the Lady Bulldogs. Â Aubrey Feiden continued her fantastic sophomore season with a 2 for 4 game. Â Karley Salmon added a double. Â Courtney Smith was 2 for 3 for GHS.
In a high scoring affair in Grant City, Maysville overwhelmed Worth County by a score of 20-6. Â Putnam County, in the game between the divisional runner-up teams, won at Albany by a final score of 5-2.
South Harrison did not play on Thursday night, the Lady Bulldogs, winless in GRC play in 2016, finished as the #8 seed in the East. Â Only 7 teams had softball in the GRC West this fall (St. Joseph Christian did not field a team).
