Princeton Lady Tigers earn overtime win, prepare for district rematch with Gallatin

The Princeton Lady Tigers won a thrilling Senior Night game with the King City Lady Wildkats on Friday night, taking a 51-49 overtime triumph in action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.  The win ends Princeton’s regular season with a mark of 17 wins against 8 losses, with the Lady Tigers full attention on the Gallatin Lady Bulldogs, who host Princeton on Monday night (5:45) in a Class 2, District 16 quarterfinal to be heard on Hot Country Z 101.7.

Payton Goodin led Princeton with 16 points in the Friday night victory, with senior Vivian Allen scoring nine points (including eight in the first quarter), Jaelyn Thomas eight, and Ashlie Henness seven (all after the start of the fourth quarter).

For King City, Grace Schottel had 17 points, with Shae Gilbert adding 16, and Sage Howard eight, as the Lady ‘Kats end the regular season at 15-10.

In Friday night’s boys game, the Tigers lost a double-digit second half lead, as King City rallied for one of the biggest victories of their season, 68-66.  A.J. Saunders led the Wildkats (11-14) with a game-high 29 points, while Wyatt Vannaman scored 13, Collin Breckenridge 11, and River McCallon 10 points.  Princeton, finishing the regular season at 14-11, had 24 points from senior forward Andrew Smith, while senior guard Calvin Berwanger contributed 21.
