The Princeton Lady Tigers claimed a 43-26 win over the Albany Lady Warriors on Wednesday afternoon, improving to 1-2 on the season, and moving into a consolation championship game with Worth County (5:30 PM Friday).
Princeton’s youth scored the basketball well in the victory, with Payton Goodin scoring 14 points and Lindsey Batson 11 for the Lady Tigers. Â Vivian Allen added eight points and Jaelyn Thomas six.
The Friday night game with Worth County is a rematch of the season opener won by WCHS in Grant City on Tuesday, November 22nd. Â Worth County, in the Albany quarterfinals, lost in overtime to South Harrison, 48-47, but rebounded with a 59-42 win over Pattonsburg in Wednesday night’s consolation round.
Sports Director Tom Johnson spoke with Coach Wade Hall about the Lady Tigers and the start of their season, Thursday afternoon at 3:30 on KTTN FM 92.3:
The Princeton boys remain in search of their first victory of the season, playing well in spurts but unable to dent the win column in losses to Worth County (11/22), Jefferson (11/28), and Pattonsburg (11/30). Â The Jefferson and Pattonsburg losses, occurring in the Albany Tournament, were particularly frustrating for the Tigers, who lost by four in both contests.
Pattonsburg beat Princeton late Wednesday night, 45-41, ending the Tigers run at Albany with an 0-2 record. Â With no seventh-place games on Friday night, the Tigers now prepare for the home opener, Tuesday, December 6th against the North Harrison Shamrocks. Â A home game with the rival Mercer Cardinals will follow (Friday, December 9th on KTTN FM 92.3).
Head Coach Damon Collins, a former Brookfield Bulldog and North Central Missouri College, spoke about his first couple of weeks with the Tigers, Thursday afternoon at 3:45 on KTTN FM 92.3:
The South Harrison boys picked up a 64-29 win over Albany on Wednesday night, advancing the Bulldogs into a Friday night (7:00 PM) consolation final with the Pattonsburg Panthers.
Friday night’s schedule from Albany High School is set, with the girls consolation final (Princeton vs. Worth County) at 5:30 PM, the boys consolation final (South Harrison vs. Pattonsburg) at 7:00 PM, and the girls third place game (King City vs. South Harrison) at 8:30 PM.
