Princeton, Chillicothe, Marceline open postseason with Friday home dates

The Princeton Tigers, Chillicothe Hornets, and Marceline Tigers, all state-ranked in the Missouri high school football media polls, have #1 seeds for district play, beginning region-wide at 7 o’clock tonight.

Princeton, at 9-0 and the champions of the Grand River Conference, will begin postseason play by hosting the Maysville Wolverines this evening at 7 o’clock, with coverage starting at 6 on KTTN FM 92.3.  Other games in Class 1, District 8 will be #7 seed Milan at Hamilton, #5 seed South Harrison at Polo, and #6 seed Putnam County at Gallatin.

The top-ranked Monroe City Panthers open play in District 5 with a home date against Louisiana.  Other quarterfinal contests will be Knox County at Mark Twain, Paris at South Shelby, and Schuyler County at Scotland County.

In District 6, Marceline has the #1 seed, with the unbeaten and second-ranked Tigers hosting Salisbury at 7 o’clock.  Other first round games will be Sweet Springs at Santa Fe, Harrisburg at Fayette, and Slater at Westran.

District 7 has a strong KCI Conference feel, with two of the quarterfinal games matching up KCI rivals.  The #1 seed East Buchanan Bulldogs host Mid-Buchanan while the #3 seed Plattsburg Tigers entertain North Platte.  Other first-round matches will be Orrick at West Platte and Concordia at Wellington-Napoleon.

The Trenton Bulldogs, 4-5 on the season, with a #6 seed in Class 2, District 8, travel to Lathrop for the second consecutive “Week 10” match-up with the Mules.  The game, at 7 o’clock, will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and KTTNSports.com, with “Football Frenzy” starting coverage at 5:30.  Lathrop is the #3 seed, with a season record of 7-2.  Other quarterfinal games will be Brookfield at Higginsville, Lawson at Bishop LeBlond, and Carrollton at Lexington.

In Class 2, District 7, there are 7 teams, leaving the #1 seed with a first-round bye.  In the first round tonight, St. Paul Lutheran is at Knob Noster, Sherwood at Summit Christian Academy, and Butler at Holden.

The Class 2, District 6 games tonight will be Highland at #1 seed Macon, Bowling Green at Clark County, Clopton at Palmyra, and Van-Far at Centralia.

The Chillicothe Hornets, 8-1 on the season, and co-champion of the Midland Empire Conference, will host the Cameron Dragons at 7.  Central Academy is at Pembroke Hill in an “All-Kansas City” game, with Lincoln Prep at Maryville, and Richmond at St. Pius the Tenth.

Class 3, District 7 games will be Oak Grove at #1 seed Hogan Prep, Boonville at Pleasant Hill, Clinton at Kansas City Center, and Kansas City Southeast at Odessa.

In Class 4, District 8, top seed Kearney hosts Winnetonka, Excelsior Springs is at Lafayette, Benton at Platte County, and Savannah at Smithville.

In 8-man football, there are 4 districts, with the top two seeds in each district receiving first-round byes tonight.  In first-round action in District 1, North-West Nodaway travels to East Atchison and Albany makes the short trek westward to Stanberry.  In District 2, Platte Valley is at South Holt / Nodaway-Holt with DeKalb traveling to St. Joseph Christian.

The Pattonsburg Panthers, with a #3 seed in District 3, will entertain the North Shelby Raiders at 7 o’clock, while Braymer will be at Stewartsville.  In District 4, Northwest of Hughesville will be at Norborne / Hardin-Central, while Osceola is at Chilhowee in a “Battle of Indians”.
