Postseason honors pour in for Bearcats

The 2020 NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Division 11 All-District teams and coaches have been recognized, recognizing the best players in the U.S. for their efforts over the 2019-2020 season.

From the #1 ranked Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, Ryan Hawkins and Trevor Hudgins were both named to the Central District first team, while head coach Ben McCollum won his third career NABC Central District Coach of the Year honor, joining 2017 and 2019.

Hudgins, a native of Manhattan, Kansas, averaged 19.6 points per game and lead the country in three-point shooting percentage at 53 1/2 percent, earnings first-team all-MIAA, first-team D2CCA all-region, D2CCA region player of the year, and MIAA player of the year honors.

Hawkins, a product of Atlantic, Iowa, was the leading scorer on the Bearcats with 22.7 points per game, with 7.4 rebounds per contests.  In a win over Southern Nazarene on November 2nd, Hawkins established the Northwest single game scoring record with a 44 point night.

McCollum led NWSMU to a 31-1 record, in addition to the MIAA regular season title, the program’s seventh consecutive regular season crown.
