The Polo Lady Panthers have been crowned champions of the Grand River Conference, courtesy of a 12-2 victory at North Andrew on Thursday night.
Hanna Vaught gained the pitching victory for Polo, with a complete game eight-hitter, striking out 11 batters without a walk. Gilbert and Heil both had a pair of doubles and two RBI’s for Polo, with Moore going 2 for 5. Warren took the loss for North Andrew.
Polo is now 16-0 on the season and finishes GRC play at 7-0. The Lady Panthers are currently ranked #1 in the state in Class 1.
Trenton played at Worth County in the crossover battle of the #4 seeds on Thursday night, with a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 7th inning by Brooklyn Richardson giving the Lady Tigers a 3-1 victory. Jena Harris was 1 for 3 with an RBI, with Mylee Baker scoring a run, and Kaegan Croy and Avery Clark both 1 for 2 for THS.
