Polo High School and Gallatin High School won softball championships at area tournaments on Saturday, with Polo winning the Benton Tournament in St. Joseph, while Gallatin claimed the title in the 8-team George Scurlock Memorial Tournament in Princeton.
Polo improved to 21-0 heading into district competition, with victories against West Platte (9-4), Maryville (9-1), and Savannah (1-0).
Gallatin downed Gilman City 12-7, Albany by a score of 10-1, and Braymer in the championship game 6-1.
Princeton won third place with a 2-1 day in its own tournament, defeating Winston 5-2 and Albany 13-3. In the semifinal round, Princeton fell to Braymer by a final score of 8-3.
Princeton will be a #3 seed in district competition, playing at Eagleville against the host North Harrison Shamrocks in a Wednesday afternoon game on KTTN FM 92.3. First pitch is slated for 5 o’clock. Gallatin will be a #2 seed and Polo a #1 seed for districts at Gallatin High School, with Polo playing Gilman City and Gallatin playing Winston in semifinal round action on Thursday night.
