The Polo Lady Panthers cruised through three contests to take the tournament championship in their own Polo Classic, while Brashear spoiled Milan’s attempt to win the Milan Tournament title, in Saturday softball action across the region.
Polo won three games by a combined score of 48-2, ripping through Lathrop 20-2, Summit Christian Academy 15-0, and, in the championship game, Carrollton by a score of 13-0.
In early round action at the Milan Tournament, the host Lady Cats downed Grundy R-V 16-2 and Green City 9-0. Tina-Avalon got the better of Grundy in another reported score, 13-2. In the title game, Milan’s offense was held down by Brashear, with the Lady Tigers winning 7-0.
At the Stanberry Tournament on Saturday, the host Lady Bulldogs won a pair of games, beating North Andrew 7-5 and Northeast Nodaway 15-0. North Andrew shutout Northeast Nodaway 12-0.
The softball season continues with a flurry of action on Monday night, including, in the KTTN Game of the Night, Milan at Princeton at 5 o’clock, with a 4:55 pregame on 92.3 FM KTTN. After the Milan game, the Princeton varsity will make it a Monday night doubleheader, hosting Gilman City.
Other softball matchups involving Grand River Conference teams include Maysville at Lathrop, Albany at Mercer, King City at South Harrison, Lawson at Trenton, and Polo at Tri-County.
