Trenton’s early season home struggles continued on Tuesday night, as the Lady Bulldogs were unable to take the momentum earned from a Monday night win at Hamilton into their match against Plattsburg, as the visiting Lady Tigers took a straight set win over THS, 25-12, 25-16.
Trenton’s points from the net finished on the low end, as Karli Provorse, Brittany Wilson, Shawna Coplen, Teresa Burkholder, and Saedee Jackson combined for just 7 kills. Â Coplen had 3 assists, Allena Allen 3 digs, Grace Holcomb 2 assists, Provorse 4 digs, and Melea Farmer 3 digs for Trenton.
Plattsburg, with the win, was able to hop back into the win column after a disheartening three-set loss (21-25, 27-25, 22-25) to West Platte on Monday night in KCI Conference play.
Trenton, now 1-4 on the season, with all four of the defeats suffered at home, has a nine-day break in the schedule, next taking on Kirksville, at the THS gym, on Thursday, September 8th. Â Plattsburg’s next match is at Orrick on Tuesday, September 6th.
Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Chillicothe swept Brookfield 25-8, 25-10 at Chillicothe High School. Â For the Lady Hornets, Whitney Clapmitt had nine kills and three blocks. Â Carly Gardner had 10 assists and Hannah Jones added four digs. Â Chillicothe stays unbeaten (2-0) on the season, with the MEC opener at Smithville coming up on Thursday night. Â Brookfield (0-2) remains in search of its first victory of the season.
Lawson beat Carrollton in straight sets, while Lathrop (vs. Orrick) and Excelsior Springs (vs. Cameron) took three sets to earn Tuesday night volleyball victories.
