NCMCPirates.com – EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The NCMC Men’s Golf Team placed 8th out of 11 team’s in this weekend’s Blue Boy Invitational at Illinois Central College.  Individually, Jamie Connelly shot +21 in the two day event which was good enough for a 25th place tie. Easton Klaver ended the event at +32, good enough for a T41 finish.
“When you look at the talent that competed this weekend, we probably finished in the right spot. We didn’t have anyone play to their potential, but everyone was able to hold together decent numbers. I say it every week, the mindless errors and the big numbers on one or two holes add up quick at this level,” remarked Coach Sager.
“Individually, Charlie, Cade, and Seth all left a lot of opportunities on the course. They hit the ball well at times, but just weren’t able to put the ball in the hole. Easton played better than he had been, but we know he has the ability to put together better rounds. Jamie was in great position to make a run after the first day. He made two mistakes on Friday that cost him 5 or 6 strokes but other than that he played well. From a ball striking standpoint, it’s probably the best I’ve seen him play from tee to green,” noted Sager of each player’s efforts.
The Pirates District Event is set for April 30th and May 1st at Weibring Golf Club in Illinois. “The guys still have a lot to play for at this point in the season. Up for grabs are spots in the National Tournament as well as All-Region honors. I’m hoping they come into the event with the right frame of mind and compete at a high level,” stated Sager.
