The Pattonsburg Panthers opened the 2020 season with a new quarterback under center and a sprinkling of new talent on the field, but the return of key playmakers from the 2019 GRC champions have hopes high for more success at PHS this fall.
On Friday night, Pattonsburg doubled up the visiting LeBlond Golden Eagles, 80-40, opening the season 1-0 and now preparing for a lengthy trip to Queen City, Missouri this Friday night, and a meeting with Missouri’s latest school to drop from 11 to 8-man play, Schuyler County High School.
Schuyler County, like Pattonsburg, opened the season with a convincing victory, taking down Keytesville/Northwestern in that program’s football debut a week ago. The uniqueness of the Pattonsburg/Schuyler matchup, combined with both teams being 1-0, are giving this “first Friday of September” game a tad more spark coming in.
Talking about the Panthers Week 1 win, and the trip to Schuyler County this week, is head coach Scott Cavin, in an interview originally aired at 3:45 Tuesday afternoon on KTTN FM 92.3.
