The Grundy R-V Panthers took a pair of basketball victories on Friday night, downing the rival Newtown-Harris Tigers. The Lady Panthers played one of their strongest games of the season, continuing to show strong depth in a 63-19 win. Mady Williams led Grundy with 24 points, 8 rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals. Anna Milazzo had 15 points and Jandy Peterson 10 for Grundy.
The Panther boys rolled to a 67-41 win over Newtown-Harris, behind 18 points from Caden Gann, 12 from Bryson Gann, and 10 points from Cooper Lewis.
The Grundy teams will play on Monday afternoon at Holiday Hoops at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, with the Lady Panthers playing Bucklin/Macon County at 4, with the same two schools (BMC and Grundy) meeting in a boys game at 5:30.
The Winston girls and boys swept an HDC doubleheader against Gilman City on Friday night. The Lady Redbirds took a 47-31 victory. Megan Cottrell had 19 points and Lindsey Snuffer 10 for the Ladyhawks in defeat.
The state-ranked Redbird boys were given a strong challenge by Gilman City, but passed with a 59-48 victory to remain unbeaten. Jacob Lewis had 28 points and Cy Uthe 24 for WHS. Cornelius Peery had 19 points and Dakota Boe 13 for the Hawks.
