The high school softball season gets its start this Saturday, with the annual North Harrison Tournament in Eagleville. Two fields, a “small field” and “big field”, will be utilized as eight teams, six varsity level and two JV, battle in a single-elimination tournament starting at 9 o’clock in the morning. All teams are guaranteed three games.
Three Grand River Conference schools are in the field, with two playing one another at 9 o’clock, as Princeton duels with South Harrison on the small field. The other 9 AM contest, on the big field, features North Nodaway against East Harrison. Those games are on the bottom half of the bracket, with the winners playing in a noon semifinal, while the loser’s will go in the consolation semifinal round, also at noon.
On the top half of the bracket, Worth County plays Winston at 10:30 on the small field, while two JV squads, from North Harrison and Lawson, duel on the big field. The winners are in a 1:30 semifinal, with the loser’s dropping to a 1:30 consolation semifinal.
The consolation and 7th place games are slated for 3 o’clock, with the third place and championship games at 4:30, Saturday at North Harrison High School in Eagleville.
