The Newtown-Harris Lady Tigers beat the Novinger Lady Wildcats on Thursday night, 30-28, moving into tonight’s consolation final in the Novinger Basketball Tournament. Newtown-Harris will play the Milan Lady Wildcats in the 4 o’clock consolation championship game, with Milan looking to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Novinger boys beat Newtown-Harris in a consolation semifinal, 73-30, moving the Wildcats into tonight’s boys consolation game (5:30 PM) with Atlanta.
Semifinal games on Thursday night were won by the Scotland County girls and boys, with the Lady Tigers beating Atlanta 56-42, while the Tiger boys clipped the Green City Gophers, 45-42. Atlanta’s girls drop into tonight’s third place game with Brashear at 7 o’clock.
On Saturday, action starts from Novinger with the boy’s third place game, as Green City and LaPlata renew their Tri-County Conference rivalry at 2 o’clock. The Green City Lady Gophers challenge Scotland County in the girls title game at 3:30, followed by the Milan boys against Scotland County for the boys championship, slated for a 5 o’clock tipoff on Saturday night, with coverage on KTTN FM 92.3.
