The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates earned a doubleheader split in Region 16 softball action on Wednesday afternoon at Three Rivers Community College.
In action from Poplar Bluff, the Lady Pirates roared back from a 5-2 deficit in the opener, scoring five runs in the top of the 4th inning and adding five more in the 5th, holding on for a 12-10 victory, despite the Raiders scoring four runs in the 6th inning and a single run in the 7th.
Brookelynn Becker and Rylee Murray had homers for NCMC in the victory, with the Lady Pirates amassing 16 hits. Becker had four RBI’s in a 2-for-4, two run effort. Maeve Lavoy was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI’s, with Rylie Boyer adding two hits, with Cassi Rodgers going 3-for-5 and Chloe Bell adding three base knocks.
Lexi Davis and Josie Bezzole each had three hits for TRCC, with Gracie Wright adding four RBI’s. Wright, Alyssa Bastien, and Camryn Casey had homers for the Raiders.
In Game #2, the Lady Pirates rallied from a 4-0 deficit after five innings with two runs in the 6th and a single tally in the 7th, but fell by a score of 5-3.
Lexi Davis and Gracie Wright homered for Three Rivers off Lady Pirate starter Briley Bouma, combining for all five Raider RBI’s. Becker was 2-for-3 for North Central and scored a run, with other tallies from Murray and Lavoy. Lavoy’s run came courtesy of a solo home run.
Bouma went the first 2 1/3 innings for NCMC and took the loss, falling to 4-3, with Lavoy pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and a run in relief. Emma Crabb pitched the complete game four-hitter for Three Rivers, improving to 11-4.
NCMC and Three Rivers play in doubleheader action in Poplar Bluff today (Thursday), with action starting at 12 noon. The Lady Pirates travel to Sedalia after the doubleheader to play State Fair Community College in a Friday duel of region rivals starting at 2 o’clock.
