NCMC stays hot with weekend road wins

The North Central Missouri College women and men went a combined 3-0 over the weekend, with the Lady Pirates sweeping a pair of games in Marshalltown, Iowa, running their winning streak to five, while the Pirate men stayed undefeated with a 29-point win at Neosho County. 

On Saturday, the NCMC men throttled Neosho County 91-62, winning on the Panthers home floor in Chanute, Kansas.  Jon Carroll had a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Pirates, with Camden Bennett and Tyler King each posting 19 point afternoons, while Joe Clark had 12 points. 

Neosho County had 15 points from Fari Joseph with Rodrigo Rubio adding 12. 

The Lady Pirates, playing in the Marshalltown (Iowa) Classic on Saturday evening, took a 68-47 victory over the Marshalltown CC Tigers.  Jessica Reeter had 17 points to lead a Lady Pirate team that saw 11 players in the scoring column.   Tailer Morrison and Gladys Brown each tallied eight points, with Oliviya Tinoco, Abbi Fountain, Jacie Morris, and Kayanna Cranmer all scoring six. 

Destiny Sao-Martinez had 18 points and Shenell Stewart 14 points for MCC. 

The Lady Pirates opened the Marshalltown Classic on Friday afternoon with a 73-56 win over Iowa Lakes Community College. Morris had a game-high 24 points for NCMC, with Reeter adding 17 points.  Fountain and Honor Mannings each scored eight. 

For the Lakers, Camya Pitts and Tayona Keys both had 11 points. 

The Lady Pirates, having moved up to #12 in the NJCAA D-2 nationall poll,  will next be in action on Wednesday night, playing at John Wood Community College (Quincy, Illinois) at 5:30 PM.  The Pirate men, remaining #4 in the country in Monday’s NJCAA poll release, will play at Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs, Iowa) on Tuesday night at 5:30, in a game to be broadcast on KGOZ FM 101.7.
