The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates, 24 games into their spring softball season, were finally able to play at Mark Griffin Memorial Field on Tuesday afternoon, splitting a Region XVI doubleheader with the Maple Woods CC Monarchs that leaves the Lady Pirates region record at 7-3.

The Lady Pirates dominated the first game, with Aubrey Nelson smacking a home run, and Rachael Balke and Georgia Gibler hammering doubles in an 11 hit attack that led to an 11-3 win.  Allison Hilsabeck earned the victory to move her season record to 9-5, allowing only three earned runs over six innings.

North Central used four pitchers and struggled in the second game, as the Monarchs put 9 runs on the scoreboard in a 9-6 road win.  Nelson added another home run for the Lady Pirates, while McKinley Hurley was 3-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored.

After having their Wednesday doubleheader with the Missouri Valley JV postponed by rain, NCMC continues Region XVI play on Friday afternoon, hosting St. Charles CC for a 2 o’clock double-dip.
