The North Central Missouri College softball team rolled to a pair of victories at Griffin Field against Southwestern Community College on Wednesday, taking decisions of 15-0 and 10-2. The wins improve the Lady Pirates, in the fall season, to 3-0-1.
On Sunday, the Lady Pirates travel to Maryville to battle the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats.
On Thursday night, the NCMC baseball Pirates lost a 6-5 decision to Missouri Valley at Burleigh Grimes Field, dropping the Pirates fall record to 3-4-1. In the loss to the Vikings, North Central lost a mid-game 5-0 lead, with the offense slumping in the late inning, while the defense struggled, committing ten errors. NCMC, as a team, struck out a total of 19 times over nine innings.
Kendrick Delima was 2 for 5 with a homer and a pair of RBI’s for the Pirates, who wasted superb pitching by a staff that allowed only four hits in the game, but did allow too many walks, with that factor, and the errors, dooming the North Central efforts late.
NCMC is next in action on Saturday in Rolla, playing the University of Missouri Science and Technology.
