In a road doubleheader against Southwestern CC on Thursday, the NCMC softball team experienced mixed results. They fell short in a high-scoring first game, losing 18-14, but bounced back to secure a victory in the second game with a score of 10-7. With these results, NCMC’s overall record now stands at 21-18 as they prepare to host Crowder College for a doubleheader in Trenton on Saturday. The team aims to enhance their current Region 16 record, which currently stands at 5-13.
Shortstop Brookelynn Becker emerged as a standout performer for the Pirates during the afternoon games in Creston. She made significant contributions to the team’s offense, hitting a 3-run homer in the opener and adding a solo shot in the second game. Maeve Lavoy led the team to victory in the pitcher’s circle, delivering a complete game performance while allowing 7 runs and striking out 10 batters. Lavoy’s impressive pitching effort improved her season record to 8-6.
