The NCMC Women’s Golf team has won its third NJCAA Region 16 title in three years, finishing fourth in the Central District Championship/Region 16 Tournament hosted by Crowder College earlier this week.
The Lady Pirates posted a two-day total of 796 (385 on Monday and 411 on Tuesday), with Kennedy Dickerson leading the way with a 36-hole total of 170, earning her first-team All-Region honors for the second straight year. Dickerson joins Lexi Hutton as the only two-time 1st team All-Region 16 golfers from the NCMC program.
Mollee Olszowka also earned first-team All-Region status with a two-day tally of 196, while Haley Baskett and Skyler Powers rounded out the Lady Pirate scoring.
Head Coach Nate Swann praised the team, saying, “I’m extremely proud of this group for what they’ve accomplished this year. Between the records broken and the road trips, this team was so much fun to work with every day.”
The tournament was held at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club in Joplin, with fast greens and blustery winds making for a challenging course setup. Dickerson finished third in the Region 16 individual standings, behind Kate Braden from Metropolitan CC and Cierra Tunley from Crowder. NCMC held off team challenges from the likes of Crowder, Metropolitan, and State Fair to claim the Region 16 team title.
Swann also acknowledged the team’s sophomores, Baskett and Dickerson, who have been “terrific representatives” for the college and will go on to have success at William Woods University in the fall. Freshmen Skyler Powers and Mollee Olszowka also showed immediate success on the team, playing solid golf throughout the year.”
