NCMC softball pulled off an upset over the weekend, defeating Three Rivers Community College in a best-of-three sub-regional matchup.
The games were played at Mineral Area College due to wet field conditions at Three Rivers’ home field. NCMC took the opener 5-4 in 10 innings, lost the second game 7-3, and won the decisive third game 5-2.
Cassi Rodgers pitched a complete game victory in the first and third games, allowing only one earned run in 10 innings and two earned runs in seven innings, respectively. Brookelynn Becker drove in four runs in the final game, and Hope Helton scored three runs.
NCMC’s record now stands at 31-21 overall, earning them the fourth seed in the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament. They will face top-seeded and host Jefferson College on Thursday at noon. The other first-round game will feature second-seeded Crowder College against third-seeded State Fair CC.
