Trenton High School senior Whitley Richman has signed with the Lady Pirates basketball program at North Central Missouri College, joining a recruiting class of 2017 that now includes Mercer’s Nicole Kost and Lindsay Wyatt, and Gilman City’s Hailey Burrows.
By signing with the hometown Lady Pirates, Richman has committed to joining the school that she is most familiar with, having grown up watching her father, Steve, coach the Pirates men’s team for over a decade. Whitley has asked about the decision to sign with North Central, and whether the familiarity made the decision easier:
NCMC Head Coach Jenni Croy is excited about the opportunity to put Richman at the forward position next year, potentially teaming her with this year’s leading scorer, freshman Sarah Lamp:
The signing of Gilman City’s shooting guard Hailey Burrows, late last week, also excites the veteran Lady Pirate coach:
North Central’s most recent signing, Whitley Richman, is the only senior on a talented Trenton girl’s basketball squad opening the season tonight at 6 o’clock, hosting East Buchanan. The “Battle of the Bulldogs” from the THS gymnasium, will be broadcast on KGOZ-TV, with Tom Johnson providing the play-by-play call on the video feed.
