Coming off of two highly successful seasons with the Pirates of North Central Missouri College, 6-foot-2 guard Demetrius Houston Jr. has signed with the Quincy (IL) University Hawks, choosing to continue his basketball career with a team that finished 25-7 in 2016-2017, in addition to a 2nd-round appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Houston, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, played in the last season behind the bench for Coach Steve Richman, averaging 12.2 points per game as a freshman in 2015-2016. Â In Jeremy Esry’s first season as Pirate coach, Houston, in 28 games, averaged 13.9 points per game, helping the Pirates to a three-way tie for first place (with St. Louis and Penn Valley) in the Region XVI regular season standings.
Quincy has signed four players in its recruiting class for this season, with Houston joined by two other JUCO guards in Robert DeVries Jr. (Lake Land CC) and Allen County (KS) guard Jah-Kobe Womack. Â High school senior Justin Bottorff (Quincy Notre Dame) has also signed with the Hawks.
